Life in Cards

Fair Use Policy

Effective date: 8 March 2026

This Fair Use Policy applies to all Life in Cards accounts, including free and paid tiers. It is designed to ensure a high-quality experience for all users and to prevent abuse of the service.

Individual use only

Each Life in Cards account is for the exclusive use of the individual who created it. Account sharing — including sharing login credentials, session tokens, or allowing others to use your account — is not permitted. This applies to all tiers, including paid plans.

How we detect account sharing

To protect the integrity of the service, we monitor for patterns that indicate account sharing. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Unusual geographic patterns: Frequent access from multiple distinct geographic regions within short time periods. We understand that IP addresses can change naturally (dynamic ISPs, mobile networks, VPNs for personal privacy), so we look for patterns that are inconsistent with normal individual use — such as simultaneous sessions from different countries or rapid switching between distant locations.
  • Concurrent sessions: Multiple active sessions being used simultaneously from different devices or locations in a way that suggests more than one person is using the account.
  • Verification challenges: If we detect suspicious activity, we may send a verification code to your registered email address. You will need to enter this code to continue using the service. This helps confirm that the account holder is the person accessing the account.

What we do not penalise

We recognise that legitimate usage patterns can sometimes look unusual. The following are not considered violations:

  • Using a VPN or proxy for personal privacy
  • Having a dynamic IP address from your internet provider
  • Travelling and accessing your account from different locations over time
  • Using multiple personal devices (phone, tablet, laptop) yourself
  • Occasional access from a different location (e.g. a friend's house, office, hotel)

Automated and programmatic access

Using bots, scripts, scrapers, or any automated tools to access Life in Cardsis prohibited. The service is designed for interactive, personal use through the web interface only.

Usage limits

Free accounts get 1 single-card reading per day. Multi-card spreads and extra readings need a subscription (unlimited readings) or a one-off purchase. Follow-up questions are included free. Full details are on our pricing page. If usage patterns suggest automated or abusive activity, we may contact you to discuss your usage or apply temporary restrictions.

Premium voice narration is limited to one newly narrated reading per day. Readings you have already had narrated remain available to replay at any time, and the device voice is never limited. The recorded voice is produced by a third-party service that charges us per character, which is the only reason this limit exists.

Consequences of violations

If we determine that an account is being shared or used in violation of this policy, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Send a warning notification to the account holder
  • Require email verification to continue using the service
  • Temporarily suspend the account pending verification
  • Downgrade the account to the free tier
  • Permanently terminate the account in cases of repeated or egregious violations

We will always attempt to contact you before taking action, and you will have the opportunity to respond. We understand that mistakes happen and prefer to resolve issues collaboratively.

Appeals

If you believe your account has been incorrectly flagged or restricted, please contact us through our support page. We will review your case and respond within 5 working days.
